Poor Quality @ Hakim Optical Winnipeg (St. James)
I bought 2 pairs of glasses with progressive lenses in February 2016 (approximately $700). I was provided with lenses not suitable for office/computer work and for general purposes.
They were reluctant to redo them, and I insisted because I could not use them at all. They redid one pair so I could try them which seemed okay, and then did the other pair. All in all it was several weeks waiting. Now that I've had them, I know they are nowhere near as good as my former progressive glasses.
These have distortions and are only marginally useful when I work on a computer.
I would recommend going to another optician even though you'll pay more, or go to Costco which delivers good quality too. The staff were friendly until I had a problem, and then got quite testy with me.

- Gentleman who initially helped me choose my frames
- Poor quality of the lenses
Terrible service. Poor quality
Purchased. 2 pair of eyeglasses from Hakim. In Barrie Ontario
I requested titanium frames. And transition lenses
Frames disassembled. At one month. Both pairs. Lessens. Was damaged
Was quoted $80. For repairs
7 times in one year. The. Frames. Allowed the lenses to drop out
One arm outright disassembled. Was quoted $ 160. For a replacement
Contacted. A different. Optometrist had the frame. Repaired for $ 10
Was informed. The frames were not titanium , and the problem was a manufactures defect
Got a replacement pair of glasses. With titanium frames. $ 50. Cheaper than I paid at Hakim

Under new NOT professional management
As a long time happy customer I recently went in to have my scratched lenses replace, unwittingly I agreed to have a "mandatory" ?? examination ($80.00) a few days later.
After that was done I figured they would go ahead and make the new lenses with little fuss and would cost about the same as it did 6 months ago when I last had them done. They repeatedly asked if had ever purchases from this location before, forgot my name etc. The new manager blurted out "any 2 pair for $529.00". no thanks I just want new lenses say me.
He then pulled out a hand held calculator and pounded away for a few minutes, asked what kind of lenses I wanted ....I just want the same as I had, should be easy but once again back to the calculator...."your last name again sir" ...wtf! Finally came up with a price that was more than double than what I paid previously(6 months). VERY unprofessional in both demeanor and interaction with a previously satisfied customer.
Grabbed my prescription and scratched glasses and left. never to return.

Poor Customer Service and RUDE EMPLOYEES
I was drawn to Hakim, when I read about story of Sir Karim Hakimi. It meant a lot and I was proud to be in a store, that was started by an individual with such legacy.
I write this with a lot of pain and regret, that an organization that was built on so much of hard-work, history, is tarnished by a rather non-empathetic, emotionless, indifferent, callous employee.
My wife ordered lenses for a frame we had. Since her power is very high, we had asked for thinner lenses with higher refractive index. Also we had shown the old lenses which was thin. The power was for the new lenses was up by small fraction from the old power.
The salesperson Hung Doan, R.O. took the order and promised lenses which matched the thickness of the old ones. He was very nice.
On visiting your store on December 15, 2015 around 7:30PM, we were taken aback by the thickness of the lenses.
This is where our ordeal begins…..
Firstly, the lady attending to us, gave my wife the glasses with finger-prints.
Secondly, my wife said, “These lenses are very thick and it is not we had ordered”. The lady at the reception had nothing in response and seemed as clueless as we were.
She said, I quote, “Jahan, she says the lens are very thick”.
Jahan shrugs his shoulder, waves his hand in the air, nods his head in displeasure, and says, I quote, “You have to talk to the person who you placed the order with”. This response was not very satisfying. So I insisted, and went on asking for an explanation, and he was being very indifferent and behaved in a way, ‘I don’t care’
I was very upset. We placed the glasses on the counter, and said, “We’ll take it later”.
Before I could leave, I said, “I find it hard to believe that a person, working in an organization has no clue or idea, what the other person or a colleague did, and went on to say this is not the right response or customer service”.
Jahan, couldn’t care less. It would have been all OK, if he had just stopped with it, for at this point, I was surely upset , but then I had turned my back away from the counter and was leaving the store. Half way out, he commented and stated, I quote, “You should see a doctor”.
This clearly went overboard. He started commenting and being judgmental about my character. And all this for me expressing my displeasure about the product received and the service provided by him.
I was not going to take it quite, so yes, I turned back , raised my voice, asked him, “ What do you mean, see a doctor”. Then things turned very ugly, and he had no answers and was the least apologetic and behaved the same way as he did from the beginning.
At this point, I was sure to raise this as concern and voice it out in any forum possible. So I said, “Give me your name”. And the response as expected, I quote, “ Why should I give you my name, I won’t give you my name”. He said, I quote, “You should go for Anger Management”
I went back to the counter, and said I heard the lady call you Jahan and wrote it down in a piece of paper and then took out my phone to take a picture of him.
As if by now things weren’t bad enough, Jahan stepped out from the back of the counter, and put his face in mine, and stood very close. When I say close, it is 2 centimeters from my nose. This is no exaggeration, that was the actual distance. And he said, I quote, “Leave the store, leave the store……” He continued to talk rudely and invaded my private space and threatened me with possible consequences.
If once, was not enough, he did it one more time, this time dangerously close.
All this for telling him, there is a better way to handle a situation.
This has been a very traumatic experience not only for me but also for my wife who is 8 months pregnant. We as a family are terrified and scarred by this episode and dread the fact that we have to step into your store again to get our money’s worth. There was no consideration given, to the fact my wife is pregnant. No offer made, I’ll check with sales man, and have him call you tomorrow. Nothing mentioned as, ‘sorry about this or sorry for the inconvenience’. Where is the human touch? At this point, I would have been just happy, if I was dealing with a vending machine.
Your security footage, would be a good indication of Jahan’s body language, frustration and his close encounters with me. All self-instigated, due to his lack of composure and maturity. I am surprised, to find that he holds a management role, as per his Linkedin profile. If this is management, I wonder…….I’ll reserve my comment at this point.
They were also rude during our first visit : There was a power failure, and the Employee said we have to leave the store. No nice words like give me your number, and I can call you when the power is back, or would you like to come back again.
They are just plain rude. and Yes they don't allow for photos to be taken. It is surprizing that they expect a person with minus 7 power be totally blind when trying new frames.
- Rude emotionless employees
Preferred solution: Train your people or warn customer ealry, that my employees have no or limited training.
No reaction to my complaint

Hakim Opticals Eglinton/Warden shop
I went to Hakim opticals Eglinton/Warden, to order my first prescription glasses. The showroom is excellent.
The wonderful chinese young lady was very helpful and explained me well abut the different choices and prices. She helped me very well in understanding my need for my first glasses... Thanks to her, no complaints from her.... she told me that someone will call me within a week when to pick up.....
Now the drama begins.....One week past ten days past, no call... I called them and someone told me two sets are ready and third one not ready yet...... Anyways I went to them next day and the gentleman started searching for glasses and said only one pair is received yet.. I said ok give me one.....
.. Few more days past no call received again... I went back to them after full two weeks and the same staff had such a strange behaviour.... the same people were not even ready to talk to me and with such a bad face the same gentleman found my other two glasses from some big box.....
never said a single word of sorry or just handed me over the glasses.... I put on the glasses one by one and told him to adjust them... he wasn't pleased to assist me any further.... clearly they wanted to get rid of me.....
Then he simply disappeared and sent the same chinese lady to assist me..... Her behaviour was also completly different this time and no warmth or welcoming as she was on my first trip...... it dawn to me that when they needed my business, they did everything to hold their customer and when the bills were paid....
they don't even care.... 100% sure I am not going back to this shop any more and I have told this to many of my colleagues and warned them, about the cold shoulder they will get on their second visit...

Apparently at every location they conveniently forget customer information and have “strict policies on mandatory eye exams” from their own stores so they make money off of you, all the same at every store I think the have a huge seminar on how to treat customers like garbage as long as they get your money they don’t care
