This is my second visit to Hakim Kanata. First time about 7 years ago was iffy ...

but I thought hey, new management, maybe it has changed. 1) You don't know what the comparative price of frames and lenses are. No frames have prices on, they pull numbers out of the blue and seem to invent discounts as they choose. 2) You want two of the same frames?

No can do. They take the frames off the shelves and install lenses in them. They don't order them like other places. 3) The optician did not inspire confidence as he measured the frames and lens location.

Looked more like guesswork compared with opticians and optometrists I've had in the past. 4) He worked hard to sell me Nikon progressive lenses to the point of giving them to me for the same price. He claimed the Nikon lenses were hands down better than the others. Well, some research suggests Nikon are made by Essilor!

The Nikon lenses were the sold as the "best progressive lenses" so called High Definition ... I'll give them their due, clarity is excellent ... better than my older Crizal lenses. 5) Not good progressives the reading "sweet area" is too small and the mid focus channel between distance and the reading area is very narrow.

This means that for both reading and mid distance sight you have to move your head an awful lot side to side. Crizal's apparently have 3 different variants ... narrow like these ... wider ...

and wider still. My last pair with Crizal were the middle ones. I'll probably get used to bobbing my head around because I'm not sure that Hakim is going to want to do anything about it without charging me 2 arms and 3 legs!!!! I'll give Hakim their due ...

the last time I went there the frames they sold me were EXCELLENT. I've sat on them and my own optometrist put the lens back and straightened them. He said "You've actually got excellent frames ...

You don't seem to realize how good they are!" - I had been complaining about them! It just seems so sleezy in there and I'm afraid to complain about the narrow mid range and close range visual field since the optician really did seem like he barely knew what he was doing.

Reason of review: Bad quality.
